Manny Pacquiao won!

9:01 AM Monday, January 23, 2006

It's a redundant jubilation, I guess, for Pinoy bloggers... but I was absolutely thrilled yesterday when Jojo got the call informing us that Pacquiao managed to knock Morales out in the 10th round. We didn't attempt anymore to line up in SM cinemas for real-time viewing of the match, as we had relatives from Australia to meet, and a sick nephew to go to (who's at the OR as I post this).

Anyway, again, am truly delighted that he won... boxing is something we've always been good at, and something where we win fair and square. It's honor that comes at a very high price for the boxer, but it's a sacrifice that isn't without rewards.

After all, Pacquiao has secured, not just the future of his kids... but also the future of the kids in his team.

Did you see the way he was hugged? It was like "thank you, my kids are secured a college education", "thank you, we can finally buy that house", "thank you, we can go on that European cruise now" or "thank you, I can buy another lion now" (in the case of Chavit Singson, who must have earned as much as Manny did by way of betting).

But the glee over his win is also doubled because, true enough, the Pinoys were one yesterday. Roads were generally quiet and traffic-free as everybody stayed home, cooking lunch really early.

And my hubby was uber delighted that news last night didn't contain any bit of the usual tragedy (crime, dirty politics, dirtier politicians, bad economy, worse leadership). For once, it SEEMED like no crime was committed as everybody was busy supporting this man from General Santos City, this man who we call the People's champion.

:)

Hopefully, my nephew would be as strong and graceful as a fighter as Manny was.

ranting on SMART

9:01 AM Monday, January 16, 2006

There was a time when I wouldn't be texting anyone for like, the whole day... but i'd be receiving 'promos' and 'hot news' and 'whatever else Smart marketing thinks other people with nothing better to do will be interested in' all day... and I noticed my load diminishing too.

I complained.

SMART INTERNET HOTLINE had the audacity to tell me that it's not a 'marketing strategy' nor a 'revenue generation strategy' of theirs. Ha!

I was also told to text certain numbers to stop receiving said ads from them. Ha! As if it's that easy (why else would cousins have switched sims and service providers).

And that receiving said ads is FREE and that you only get charged when you subscribe for new ring tones and what-nots. Ha!

But at least, after that e-mail, the spamming stopped. My load was left alone for me to waste on real people.

And then just now... I get text messages telling me that my ring tune (JUST ONCE) would be automatically renewed in 3 days and i'd be charged P30 for it.

First, who the hell picks that song for a ring tune? Ugh!

Second of all, I never applied for any of that sh!t.

Talk about LIVID.

I've sent them another strongly-worded e-mail... Hay naku, kawawa the call center agent who'd receive my call talaga if I lose P30.00 over their SCAM.

But the sh!ttier thing now is that... I dare not load! And am down to my last P65.00 :D

I've been married for exactly two weeks... but people, just days after the wedding, have been at me if am pregnant already.

I mean, surely if I wanted a child so badly... i'd have gone and gotten some at age 18? *rolleyes*

My father-in-law even kept on asking if I was making lihi on crabs, and as much as I love him, I was like... what, can't a recently-married woman eat seafood in peace anymore?

He even asked if I already knew the child's sex.

Hanube!

And some people at work have been heralding how i'm recently made non-virgin (again, hanube!)...

*rolleyes again*

It's not that am being an ingrate over the exitement over my change of status... others have been considerate enough to just ask about me, the honeymoon, the new living arrangements, future plans, etc.

But others have just been really downright annoying.

Esply since, I just had my period last week :D

And my hubby is off to Thailand for 2 weeks!

See... being married isn't all about getting laid all the time!

*~*

Yes, I seriously don't want to be a mother anytime soon. I didn't marry JRA so we can start a family asap... but yes, one of the reasons why we got married was because we both wanted a family/kids and we believed we'd make good parents (somehow). But the real reason why we got married was because we believed in the instution that is marriage.

Besides, every woman should experience first being doted on by a loving husband. Tickles you pink :)

*~*

I got my camwish!!! So yes, I have a new baby! But I need a new set of batteries for it.

Shucks, am such a gadget-y girl, what with my cell, digicam and mp3 player :D Who would have thought!

*~*

"Honeymoon" was spent over at Marinduque.

*~*

Yes, am annoyed with all the 'updating of records and change of name and status' thingie that I have to do in the coming weeks. :D

*~*

My words to my hubby before I first joined him in bed for the first time as his wife:

"Shucks mahal, i'd be having sex I never had before... the marital one!"
